Getting to know Andrea!

Today we will get to know our lovely new Registered Massage Therapist (RMT)!!

Q - What is your name and tell us something about yourself.

A - My name is Andrea Arnold. I was born and raised in Hamilton and have lived in most areas in the city including east end, central Hamilton, downtown and now the Hamilton mountain. I am married to my lovely husband Alston and we have two beautiful children, my 12 year old daughter Isis and my 8 year old son Jai.

Q - How does massage therapy help people with their health?

A - Massage Therapy is hands on therapy of the soft tissues of the body. That includes the muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments, and joints.

Massage can be an important part of your health maintenance by:

  • reducing or eliminating pain

  • improving joint mobility

  • improving circulation

  • reducing muscular tension

There are tremendous benefits to be achieved through regular massage therapy treatments. The following are some conditions that massage therapy can prove to be beneficial:

Anxiety and depression, headaches, tendonitis, whiplash, strains and sprains, arthritis, sport injuries and many more.

Q - What do you like to do when you are not working?

A - I love spending time with my husband and children. My children's various activities keep me pretty busy, but when I get time to myself, I love working out -- especially lifting weights! I am a thicker built woman and love proving to people that you don't have to be thin to be fit. You just need to love the skin you are in. The best part of living in Hamilton is the various sets of stairs along the escarpment. No membership fees required so it is the cheapest and most scenic way to work out!

Q - Since it is Christmas time, what is your favourite part of the holidays?

A - Spending time with my friends and family has got to be the best part. A year ago my dad found out that he has stage 4 kidney cancer that travelled into his bones. We didn't think he would make it through that Christmas, let alone be here for this year. I am truly thankful to spend another holiday season with him!!
